Congratulations on your new kitten. Jabari's test for FIP that came back positive should not looked at by itself. There is NOT a good screening test for FIP. Just because this test was "positive" does NOT mean he has FIP. The test he likely had done (I would need to see the exact test to know for sure) most likely looked at his exposure to the corona virus which can (in some cases) mutate to the FIP virus. The corona virus is very common and most of our cats have exposure to it and likely would have positive titers. FIP can only be diagnosed through biopsy samples although many symptoms in a kitten can lead us towards this diagnosis (for example build-up of fluid in the abdomen or chest). If Jabari is healthy in every other way and the rest of his lab work is normal, this may be nothing to worry about. If he is ill, then I would work with your veterinarian or even seek a second opinion. Hope this information helps put your mind at ease. Please let us know if you have more questions.
