Great question! I can tell you that I have never personally seen any medical conditions associated with clumping litter and that I use it in my own cats. Of course if your cat has a specific medical condition, the decision on type of litter should be taken seriously. For example, in a cat with asthma I would recommend a litter with minimal dust - this could be a clumping or clay litter.
