Perhaps you can associate the ring tone sound with something that he likes. For instance, find a very smelly treat that he likes. Then set your cell phone on a table some distance from another landline phone (or second cell phone) that you can dial. Call your cell phone when the cat is near you and you’re both some distance away from the ringing cell phone. Let the cell phone ring only one time, and give the cat one of these treats. Dial and let it ring one time again, and once more offer the treat. Do this several times, allowing the cell phone to ring only one time before shutting it off and giving him a treat. He should only get these special treats when the phone rings. This does a couple of things. First, it associates the ringing phone with a tasty treat, links you with getting the treat, and also fills up his mouth and keeps him busy so he’s not as inclined to attack you. Within a short time, he’ll start to look for a treat from you when the phone rings. Similarly, have treats handy so that when the alarm goes off, he also gets a treat.
